KARACHI: Mayor Waseem Akhtar filed a appeal to include former president Pervez Musharraf, former prime minister Shaukat Aziz and former Sindh chief minister Arbab Ghulam Raheem in the 12th May violence investigation, a private television channel reported.
Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) heard four cases regarding 12th May, 2007 incidents in Karachi on Monday.
Akhtar pleaded to the court to include Musharraf and other top officials in the probe as well, who, he claims, were also responsible for the violence.
The plea stated that the mentioned officials were present in the meetings which hammered out ex-chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry visits’ security plans.
Akhtar said, “In three other cases, I was released on bail and I plead the court to grant me bail in this case as well.”
The prosecution argued that the existing Karachi mayor encouraged the violence and an eye-witness, Ilyas, gave a statement in this regard.
The verdict was reserved over the petition of the mayor, after the court listened to the arguments of defence and prosecution.
