UMERKOT: To combat climate change, a police constable from Chhor police station at Newchhore started a plantation drive in the town.
When approached to Narian Das, he said that it was his passion to do something benificiary for the society along with his duty, and that he remained aware of every single problem facing the people of his land. “I always took initiatives for the betterment of my people,” said the policeman.
He added: “In Newchhore, if people go through the past and history, the number of trees planted here at the railway station were donated by a lady people still love to recall her in good name; it is the way to win the sympathies of people and way forward to save the environment.”
“I also invited many noted persons in this drive as their strong message and awareness can create a wave to attract people,” he said.
His steps are being appreciated among locals as the environment of the police station has drastically changed in few days after his campaign.
Appreciating the constable’s plantation drive, locals say energetic people from interior and underprivileged areas of Sindh possess a great potential and spirit to change the scenario of society by planting trees in surroundings.
Ashok Kumar, a fellow constable, said it’s very easy to change the ecology and environment just by spending five rupees.
Tarachand, a senior citizen of town, also appreciated Narian’s efforts and said let’s take a oath to save the environment by planting a single tree on your own name.
