ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, in a meeting with British Member of Parliament Lord Nazir Ahmed in London, said that the British government had a legal and moral responsibility to bring to justice those involved in the murder of a Pakistani national on British soil. Discussing matters concerning the Pakistani community in the United Kingdom, Nisar said that Pakistani expatriates were an asset to the country and every effort would be made to address their issues. Ahmed appreciated the personal efforts of the interior minister in addressing issues faced by the Pakistani community in the UK.
Khan also said that the government of Pakistan had reservations over the issue of Altaf Hussain. Meanwhile, Bradford West MP Naz Shah also met the interior minister at the High Commission for Pakistan, London. Shah thanked the minister for his commitment to the investigation of the murder of British national Samia Shahid. She also commended the work of the investigation team, especially the deputy inspector general, whom the minister had appointed to oversee the case. Khan thanked the British MP for her commitment to the case and to women’s rights. He said, “The government is committed to bringing to justice those who committed this heinous crime.” Following the meeting, Shah said that she was confident in the commitment shown by the minister and hoped that efforts to get justice for Samia Shahid would be successful.”
